Lausanne dresses up like Hollywood for five days

Lausanne is gonna be all we're talking about for the next few days. For the first year, the actor Vincent Perez launched the r7al Film Festival. From this Saturday March 24th to Wednesday 28th, Lausanne will be all red carpet and sparkles in the eyes.

Tim Pope, Thierry Frémaux, Alexandre Desplat, Fanny Ardant, Stephen Apkon, Suzanne Bier, (hold your breath) Léa Seydoux, Christopher Walken, Barry Levinson, Darren Aronofsky, Hugh Hudson, Michael Hazanavicius and finally Thomas Vinterberg are the guests of this year.

That's a whole bunch of great actors and directors right ? Straight from the USA yay. They are all coming either to talk about their films - for the most part old ones of their filmography - either giving conferences. They take place at écal (Ecole Cantonale d'Art de Lausanne) in the Ikea Auditorium, and at the Cinémathèque de Lausanne.

The r7al Film Festival also planned a "New Hollywood" program ; have you ever heard about Cabaret, Bonnie and Clyde, Easy Rider and The Graduate, but without ever actually seeing them ? Well that's your chance. These movies come from the american cinema wave called the "New Hollywood" in the late sixties and seventies, when the time was about cars, guns and girls. I know, said like this it seems very superficial, but I can assure you, Scorsese, George Lucas and Spielberg knew just how to override that and make the most of it.

There also is a Virtual Reality Movies section, which is, I think, gonna be super great. Ten movies are to be shown ; fictions, documentaries and 360° artistic films as well. They last between 6 and 40 minutes, and you can go watch them at the elac (Gallery of écal).

So if you like movies, and want to discover again your own cult film or share with other movie fans what are considered as the masterpieces of the seventh art, then see ya in Lausanne !

Here is the whole program and further informations :

Prices : between 10 and 15 francs the movie
